This was a picture of a photograph owned by the current owners of the house that Anna Maria Holmberg worked in as a maid. It show the view down the road to Lovisa Bay. This is the view that Anna Maria Holmberg would see.

Kusti and Esther Simila had their farm in Section 11, Township 56, R16 St. Louis County Minnesota. It was on this farm that our mother Esther Simila was born in 1919.

Note that in Section 12 is the property of Thomas Flom Kero, the uncle of Esther Kero.

I went up to Makinen Minnesota to try and take a photo of the original Simila Farm...my best guess is that this land is currently swamp land. This picture was taken about 0.5 miles to the west of the original Simila Farm.

This is my best guess to where the Simila Farm was. The records indicate it was in Township 56 Range 16, which would in this area.

This is the church in Lohtaja, built in 1768. This is the church that Esther Kero Simila went to, while she lived with her grandparents, Matti Kero and Elisabet Niemi. She lived on the Kero Farm until 1899, when she came to America.

This is a photograph taken sometime in the late 1940's. The small child is my closest DNA relative in Finland, Tauno Kero. The man by the horses is Matti Kero, the son of Johan Kero, and the nephew of our Great Grandfather, also named Matti Kero. This phototgraph was taken on the Kero Farm, and was sent to me by Mika Kero.

This was the current view from the house where Anna Maria Holmberg worked as a maid, and where Kalle Fredrik Holmberg was born in 1852.

This is a farm off the road where the original Simila Farm was. My guess is that this is to the west of the original farm. Note the road - it looks identical to the one in Hankasalmi Finland where Farm#2 was located.
